Organized Care, Every Shift
Tru Star begins with a consultation to understand the client's routine, mobility, nighttime needs, safety concerns, and preferred schedule. We then create an approved care plan and coordinate the daytime and overnight caregiver team.
At every shift change, caregivers exchange important information about meals, hydration, bathroom routines, mobility, activities, sleep, behavior, and safety concerns. Tru Star communicates with the family and reviews the care plan whenever the client's needs change.
Families should contact the Tru Star office - not privately rearrange caregiver schedules.
24-Hour Support for Clients Living With Dementia
Many families choose Split-Shift Care when a loved one living with dementia should not be left alone and needs an awake caregiver throughout the day and night.
• Nighttime confusion or restlessness
• Wandering or attempts to leave the home
• Frequent bathroom escorts and reminders
• Calm redirection and reassurance
• Maintaining familiar daily routines
• Meal and hydration reminders
• Medication reminders
• Walking and fall-prevention support
• Changes in sleep patterns or behavior
• Safety observation throughout the night
• Communication with the family and Tru Star office
Consistent Care for Dementia
Tru Star uses a small caregiver team so the client can become familiar and comfortable with the people providing support. Caregivers follow the same approved routines, communication approach, meal schedule, bathroom reminders, and safety plan.
Important information is shared during every shift change so care continues smoothly. The goal is to reduce unnecessary changes and help the client remain safely supported in familiar surroundings.
Respectful, non-medical support focused on familiarity, comfort, safety, dignity, and reassurance.
Awake Overnight Support
The overnight caregiver remains awake and actively working throughout the entire shift. Support may include bathroom escorts, reassurance, redirection, hydration reminders, walking assistance, and observing changes in the client's sleep, routine, or behavior.
Meals and Household Support
Caregivers may prepare meals and snacks for the client, provide hydration reminders, clean the client's eating area, complete the client's laundry, change bed linens, and perform light housekeeping in the client's personal living areas.
These duties are for the client named in the service agreement. They do not automatically include cooking, cleaning, laundry, or assistance for a spouse, relative, guest, or another household member. If someone else needs assistance, the family must contact Tru Star so the additional needs can be reviewed and properly added.
